I was sitting in a barroom just me and my lonesome me and my lonesome and my beer when this gal walked in with those blue eyes I crave Well I fell off my stool hit the floor and I said I’ve got blues for two, blues for two darlin won’t you come and spend some time with me cuz I’ve got blues for two and I can see that you do too I just need someone to help me off my knees It was just the other day when she called me up on the phone that's right she called me up on the phone she said thanks for all your time, but I've got me a ramblin mind I'm halfway cross 50, I'm sure you'll do just fine Now I’ve got blues for two, blues for two darlin won’t you come and spend some time with me cuz I’ve got blues for two and I can see that you do to I just need someone to help me off my knees I’ve got blues for two and I just don’t don’t what to do my heart keeps sinking lower each day hell I wish it wasn’t so but I can’t stand to see her go Tell me something I can do to make her stay I’ve got blues for two, blues for two darlin won’t you come and spend some time with me cuz I’ve got blues for two and I can see that you do to I just need someone to help me off my knees

Well she smells real good, like a TV dinner and she’s always polite like you just met her She don’t believe in Jesus, says she knows better She’s my banjo pickin', tobacco spittin' girl Well she gets high on apple pie and she'll brew up shine that’ll make ya whine She’s a renaissance woman with a nasty lip My banjo pickin' tobacco spittin' gal She’s rips the five with a lip full of dip She’ll pick it so fine, she’ll have you shaking your hips She don’t give a damn and she never will She grows her own tobacco way up on the hill Now if you see her coming don’t be alarmed It’s hard to resist such a natural charm She’s big and strong and stands up straight She’s my banjo pickin' tobacco spittin' gal And she sings too, hell she loves to sing Ya oughta see it yourself, it’s no everyday thing How all that dip don’t get in the way, it don’t fly out her mouth Well I wish I could say But lord knows it’s a sight to see How does she sing so in tune with so few teeth Well we call that a scientific anomaly She’s my banjo pickin' tobacco spittin' gal She’s rips the five with a lip full of dip She’ll pick it so fine, she’ll have you shaking your hips She don’t give a damn and she never will She grows her own tobacco way up on the hill And she loves me good, hell she loves me ragged Won’t say too much, don’t want to sound like I’m bragging I’ll just leave it at that, that's my story about My banjo picking tobacco spitting gal

Don’t go to college Go live in the woods keep in touch with your grandma let her know you’re doing good learn how to take care of yourself before you go out trying to make a buck in this world where your dollar’s worth a dime Get on up to the mountains Go the highest you’ve been Look down at the world below look up to the sky see the freedom, see it before you and when you come back down take some with you before you go Get on out to the ocean when the water’s cold take all your clothes off when you get to the shore dive right in and swim on out, roll on with the waves let it cool your restless ways And when i reach the heaven and meet the one I hope to thank her for all she’s done but if she won’t throw me a bone help me pay off my student I don’t mind I’ll just roll up a bone of my own Don’t go to college Go live in the woods keep in touch with your grandma let her know you’re doing good learn how to take care of yourself before you go out trying to make a buck in this world where your dollar’s worth a dime

I love you, can’t you see that You tell me you love me too So why can’t you believe me When I say it to you I try, lord knows it but are you trying too I believe you when you say you are and lord that scares me too Sad tears of love have fallen yet I still want you near I’ll wait alone the best I can If you can’t stand to hear me I wish there weren’t anything that could hurt your trust in me and that one day you’ll choose to stay and it won’t be out of pity I keep fighting and so do you but what are we fighting for who cares who’s right now as tears trail the floor I'm still here because I love us and I know that you are too so why can’t you believe me when I say that i love you Broke down, losing hope again wondering could it be that we’re running around in circles and swallow that as free I’m not strong enough to tell you every time it worries me but if I’m just a burden on your mind then darlin tell me and i’ll let you be

Dreamin' 02:41
I remember dreaming, i remember how things were Wide blue eyes wondering what’s next and what’s the worth I've known it in myself, seen it everywhere i go there ain’t no time to think about it, no time to know What happened to you, what’s happened to everyone Where has all the time gone, too much going on to get along But no one cares, no one cares to contemplate Ain’t no time to think about it, no time to relate But does it even matter the way things are going no it won’t be long till the way we know is gone and the cracks are starting to show it Ain’t no time for thinking, this ships already sinking So let’s get it straight before it’s too late and we’re left turning through the ages And what will you do, when all your power’s gone when everything you’ve known’s drifted off like a song Will you be there for yourself when you need the help will you try your best to help someone who can’t help themselves Bridge And who will seed the soil and who’s fate to farm and feed Bereft of any spoils just to keep up on our feet and how could we go on, alone with all our hate alone with all that money, and it don’t mean a thing But does it even matter the way things are going no it won’t be long till the way we know is gone and the cracks are starting to show it Ain’t no time for thinking, this ships already sinking So let’s get it straight before it’s too late and we’re left turning through the ages

I'm gonna make some changes gonna do some rearranging won't ever have you back again, this time I'm taking the high road and leaving you behind You've used me up so many times before and it ain't ever long til you're back at my door why can't you understand, I ain't your fool anymore And everytime you've left and come back again I've gone out of my way just so you could have a friend I've been wasting my time acting like you ain't done me wrong I'm gonna make some changes gonna do some rearranging won't ever have you back again, this time I'm taking the high road and leaving you behind And the next time you come callin' I'm making time on some old highway You can hop on your high horse mama but you ain't ever catching up with me Now don't you come around here sticking out your hand I'm gonna find me a woman who respects a decent man Well you took me for granted and this heart won't need you to mend I'm gonna make some changes gonna do some rearranging won't ever have you back again, this time I'm taking the high road and leaving you behind

This morning, my baby left me that’s why I’m sitting here with nothing to say So don’t put a nickel in the jukebox I couldn’t stand to hear those sad old songs today I’ve been here so many times with her But I’ve never walked in here and felt like this before we’d put in our order, grab our singles and our quarters I’d light us a smoke to share, and the jukebox revved it’s motor But this morning, my baby left me that’s why I’m sitting here with nothing to say So don’t put a nickel in the jukebox I couldn’t stand to hear those sad old songs today And the records spun... George and tammy, conway and Loretta, Porter and Dolly, Merle and Bonnie, Emmy and Rodney and Johnny and June and Waylon and Jessi in a diner for two But this morning, my baby left me that’s why I’m sitting here with nothing to say So don’t put a nickel in the jukebox I couldn’t stand to hear those sad old songs today

Moon Sang 03:48
The moon sang along with your parting The mountains they hummed along I swear that I heard your soul moving In the air, i heard your so long And the rain beating down on my rooftop soothes me we with it’s heavy pulse and the wind that’s shaking my little house helps ground my troublesome soul and if it snows again I might go wander watch the shadows sway in the moonlight come spring love unfolds with the blossoms And I’ll still be singing your song, I’ll still be singing your song 7 years is all it was, all we got just long enough to listen to the music in your heart and I hear the songs that we could sing and the tunes that we could play Ring for no one to hear And I can hear your song when I'm alone as the grass falls to the setting sun So's passed your time, one morning you left mine Gone with the dew, I'll sing this song for you and if it snows again i might go wander watch the shadows sway in the moonlight come spring love unfolds with the blossoms And I’ll still be singing your song, I’ll still be singing your song

One more night One more night with you Just one more night Darlin’ please don’t be blue One more night for our love to go on It’s just one more night ’Til I’m all alone I’m headed on down that road That lonesome road on home Let the long white lines hyptonize my mind and I’ve been on this same road for such a long, long time When we finally found each other, I was just saying good bye But you let me know, knowing soon I’d go and I was grateful to have laid by your side One more night One more night with you Just one more night Darlin’ don’t you be blue One more night for our love to go on It’s just one more night ’Til I’m all alone

I’m tryin' to get some sleep I’m tryin' to get some rest you know it’s been a while I’ve been running round this country so long I’ve been through Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana Washington Houston, shit man, wrong song like i said, it’s been a while and I’m tryin' to get my head on straight that collection man’s been calling me for days and I still gotta pay my rent I'm home for three days and two of em I'm working before I'm on the road again that ain’t much time to keep my home-life going and tie up all of my loose ends well my baby keep's complaining, you know she keeps saying that i ain’t calling home enough so I’m trying to get my life together, hell the best that i can living by the wheel of a van well it ain’t easy, but you get what you put in my life will be full of living and losing but I’d never let that do me in all hell can’t stop me, it’s just the way I’ve always been I’m gonna live this way, I get to die this way running the highways of American dreams Hell I don’t mind, I’ve spent enough time doing what other told me to got me burnt out and losing it, trying to make the best it i’d done everything thing I could do at a fork in the road, about four ways to go I put it all on the line I did what I wanted to, made a plan, saw it through and left that old life behind this is my 9-5, best that I could find but I’m gonna make it work, i ain’t got much else in line gotta hit the road, gone another night Gonna hope ol' desi don’t put up a fight well it ain’t easy, but you get what you put in my life will be full of living and losing but I’d never let that do me in all hell can’t stop me, it’s just the way I’ve always been I’m gonna live this way, I get to die this way running the highways of American dreams

I’m scared of wasting time, but may waste more than most I’m grateful for good company, but not always the best host And I try to tell the truth even when it hurts I don’t claim to be perfect, but I’ve found some things that work I stopped watching the news when I got tired of the yelling Hell the pictures that they show ain’t from the stories that their selling I can save myself that stress, save myself that time save myself from myself further on down the line And I have found some peace of mind Yes I have found some peace of mind living a way that’s inherently mine back in my hometown, i’d been living on the road wandered for a while, didn’t know just where I'd go Stayed with friends in the mountains, i drove south and i drove north lived in Boston for a while, i think that city might be cursed I'd like to pay my band, what I think they’re worth unfortunately that’s relative to the industry standard hell I hope to get paid for my effort and my days and i think that honest, hard work is worth an inflation-ajdusted wage And I have found some peace of mind Yes I have found some peace of mind living a way that’s inherently mine I always thought I’d have dog again, and someday I just might so far I’ve had a couple cats and they’ve treated me alright Batman ran off and joined some coyote gang I hope she’s doing well, now I’ve got Bobbie in her place (And I’ve found myself a love, and she knows just how to live it She knows just what I need, just how much, and how to give it) And I hope that you don’t mind that I tell it like I do But this story’s my own and you’ve got one of your own too
